about the Director
Karo Balyan
Karo Balyan graduated Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography in the Faculty of Theatre / Acting and has been working as an actor for around 15 years. He is still starring in various films both in Armenia and outside of Armenia.
He started his professional directing career in 2007 getting his directing education in Moscow, Russia, and then in St. Petersburg. He directed more that 20 performances both in Armenia and outside of Armenia. He participated in more than 20 festivals with his performances and was honored major awards in some of them. Since 2016 he has been the director of the Yerevan International Shakespeare Theater Festival. At present, he teaches in Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography.
Some of the latest performances are Shagane. The Secret of the Poet at The Alexandrinsky Theatre (Russian State Academic A.S. Pushkin Drama Theatre) St. Petersburg, The taming of the shrew at Almetyevsk Tatar State Drama Theater, Tatarstan, Russia, Oxygen Verbatim documentary performance in Yerevan, at the Yerevan Shakespeare International Theater Festival etc.

DRAGOȘ MĂCEȘANU is an actor of the “Marin Sorescu” National Theatre in Craiova since 2005. He was a pupil of the great Ilie Gheorghe (and graduated the Department of Arts, component of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Craiova), Dragoș has played over 35 roles in the theatre’s productions.
In this season he will be seen in no less than 10 plays: Unde mi-e sufletul? adapted from Marin Sorescu, directed by Norbert Boda, Radio by Eric Bogosian, directed by Bibi Pricop, Vesti bune. Final by Davide Carnevali, directed by Alexandru Dabija, Operatiunea Marte by Alexa Bacanu, directed by Dragoş Alexandru Muşoiu, White Room by Alexandra Badea, directed by Florin Caracala, Aias. Eseu despre demență adapted from Sofocle, directed by Mihai Măniuțiu, Dacă am gândi cu voce tare by Adnan Lugonić, directed by Radu Afrim, Profu` de Religie by Mihaela Michailov, directed by Bobi Pricop, Occident Express by Matei Vişniec, directed by Alexandru Boureanu, Năpasta by I. L. Caragiale, directed by Kincses Elemér.
Throughout his career, he has worked with directors such as Silviu Purcărete, Robert Wilson, László Bocsárdi, Mihai Măniuțiu, Yiannis Paraskevopoulos, Mircea Daneliuc, Kincses Elemér, Mircea Cornișteanu, Peter Schneider, Cristi Juncu, Bobi Pricop, Radu Afrim, and others.
