Lilach Dekel-Avneri
Lilach Dekel-Avneri is an Israeli theatre director, curator, translator and dramaturge, recipient of the prestigious Rosenblum Prize for Performance Art, and the Israel Institute Visiting Artist program and founder and Artistic director of the Pathos-Mathos Theatre Company.
Lilach directed multiple award winning theatre and performance shows, in Israel and overseas. Her works are often described as – a theatrical event or a piece of art with poetic and surreal qualities that offer a real alternative to the conventional theatre. She enjoys mentoring upcoming directors and playwrights, many of which became important voices in the local scene.
Since the first lockdown, Lilach directed four productions via, or for, the network:
- The Artist Room. A Showroom – an internet project for the Days of Corona, premiered in March 2020. HEARA 13 Festival.
- Sheltered Housing – an internet project for the Days of Corona, premiered in April 2020. Viral Festival.
- She will find solace – a sight specific performance at the Voznesensky Museum, Moscow, Russia – directed via Zoom. premiered in September 2020. The Golden Mask Festival.
- The Eichmann Project – Terminal 1 – a performance for the camera, premiered in September 2020. Israel Festival.
Revisiting one of the seminal events in the history of Israel – the Eichmann trial, The Eichmann Project – Terminal 1 is a multidisciplinary event – a ritual of reenactment for camera and audience, invoking the voices that resonated in 1961 at Beit Ha’am in Jerusalem, and returning to the public storm that followed the trial.
Lilach holds an MFA (Cum Laude) in Writing, Dramaturgy and Directing from the Department of Theatre, Tel Aviv University.

about the actor
Costinela Ungureanu
After graduating from the University of Craiova, Arts Department (bachelor’s and master’s studies), Costinela Ungureanu has been an actress at the Marin Sorescu National Theatre, since 2016.
A very versatile artistic personality, she naturally makes the transition from the burlesque to passionate drama, from powerful characters to ingénue characters, from humor to poetry. She has succeeded to create convincing and very expressive characters in a range of different performances of improvisation, dance-theatre, pantomime, operetta, and street dance, even rediscovering Bacovia, in a unique choreographic way.
She collaborated with the ”Jean Bart” Theatre in Tulcea and Romanian Opera in Craiova, and, in the current season, she plays in the Craiova National Theatre’s most recent premiere, the frothy comedy TOC TOC by Laurent Baffie, directed by Alexandru Boureanu and Raluca Păun. She also is Alexandra / other characters in Heart and Other Meat Products by Dan Coman, directed by Radu Afrim; A Woman in Playground – text and direction: Raul Coldea; Annie Jaquet in 1,2,3…Bébé by Andre Roussin, directed by Alexandru Boureanu and Raluca Păun; Ana in The Misfortune by I.L.
